94.9 MIXfm's "MIX MIRACLES" radiothon changes children's lives in Tucson

The 94.9 MIXfm (KMXZ) morning show has made miracles happen for the kids of Southern Arizona with a live, two-day radiothon benefiting the Children's Miracle Network, an international non-profit dedicated to raising funds for 170 affiliated children's hospitals, and the Tucson Medical Center (TMC) for children. Every dollar raised stays in the Tucson community and is used to purchase life-saving equipment such as biliblankets and special "Omnibeds" for the tiniest babies. Funds also promote health and safety education, help expand pediatric programs, and helped in the opening of the new children's medical center in TMC. In just two years, the radiothon has raised over $475,000 for kids in need!

Wichita supports overseas troops with Brian and Kellie’s Christmas in a Box program

Knowing that a little touch of home makes a big difference for soldiers overseas, Brian & Kellie’s Christmas In A Box campaign sends care packages to Kansas troops deployed during the holidays.  The event is supported by partners who raise money for the postage, and listeners who donate snacks, toiletries, entertainment items, Christmas decorations, letters and support from home. In 2013, the event mailed 801 boxes!  Wrote one soldier in response: “I wanted to personally thank you and KFDI there in Wichita for the Christmas boxes and gifts…Being away from home and family during the holidays is hard, but the gifts we received from the great people in Wichita make it easier for all of us during this time of year. Everything brought a small piece of home to us that we enjoyed and cherished; it also made us feel, at least for a little while, like kids on Christmas.”

KTNV-TV Las Vegas keeps kids warm with Coats for Kids

The Coats for Kids program was started in 1999 by community volunteer Harriet Bernard to supply children in Southern Nevada with winter coats. The annual program has grown with the support of Las Vegas' Channel 13 KTNV-TV, which works with local partners each October to collect coats before the onset of winter weather. New and gently used coats are donated by viewers and distributed by The Salvation Army, helping to ensure that more than 2,000 kids will stay warm throughout the winter each year.

Journal puts a giving spin on the holidays with 94.9MIXfm’s Merry Twistmas Tucson

Each holiday season, 94.9MIXfm (KMXZ-FM) produces a humorous, original holiday play – brimming with local jokes and references – in conjunction with community partners. Performed on stage and broadcast live by MIXfm DJ's, KGUN9 guest stars and community leaders, Merry Twistmas Tucson collects diapers and cash donations the night of the show for the Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona, which distributes 600,000 diapers annually through partnerships with more than 50 non-profit agencies to benefit more than 20,000 babies, elderly adults and individuals with special needs. Nearly 80,000 diapers and $10,000 cash were provided as a result of the 2013 event.

TODAY'S TMJ4 Community Baby Shower helps families in Milwaukee and surrounding areas

Since 2003, Milwaukee’s TODAY’S TMJ4 (WTMJ-TV) has held the TODAY'S TMJ4 Community Baby Shower for local babies in need.  The one-day event encourages viewers to donate supplies like diapers, formula, clothes, toys and hand-made blankets for needy area families.  Gifts stay in the immediate area in which they were donated, then are distributed through various agencies serving families throughout southeastern Wisconsin.  In 2014, TODAY'S TMJ4 partnered with Sentry Foods, United Healthcare Community Plan and the Social Development Commission to collect more than 5,000 donated items.
