Summary of Benefits
Benefit Eligibility
All full-time employees are eligible for all benefits; however employees must enroll within the first 30 days of employment. Most benefits are available first of the month following sixty (60) days of continuous full-time employment.
Base Benefits
- Paid Time Off (Vacation, sick, 6 holidays and 3 personal days)
- $5,000 Life insurance
- Short-term disability benefits (after 1 year of full-time employment)

Retirement Benefits (for full-time employees age 21 or older)
- Employees may contribute to the Journal Communications’ 401K through automatic payroll deductions. New hires are automatically enrolled in the Plan to make pre-tax contributions at a rate of 2% of eligible pay. (Employees may stop or change this amount.) Deductions will begin within 1-2 payroll cycles.
- After 1 year of service with 1,000 hours employees are eligible to receive a Matching Contribution of 50 cents for every dollar you save up to 7% of your base pay up to a maximum match of 3.5% of your base compensation.
